Caring Tree – New Year, New Changes
Let us tell you a little about The Caring Tree, our grant program for community-based and social service agencies and learn how it is changing in 2019!
The Caring Tree provides annual grant awards to community-based and social service agencies across the state of Minnesota. The Caring Tree has assisted more than 200,000 Minnesota students since its founding in 1993.
The Caring Tree was established by the Minnesota Shopping Center Association with the mission to promote educational success for Minnesota’s K-12 students in need by ensuring they have the appropriate school supplies. With such a compatible mission statement, the Caring Tree has since been adopted as a vital “branch” of Kids in Need Minnesota as another outlet to reach students who need school supplies, especially if their school does not meet our qualifications.
Agencies that are based in Minnesota and operate as a 501 (c)(3) designated organization may submit an application to obtain free school supplies as part of their own effort to support student success in the classroom. In 2018, The Caring Tree served approximately 1,125 students via 16 community-based social service organizations throughout Minnesota.
In 2019, the Caring Tree grant program is getting a big makeover! The Caring Tree will now be accepting product grant applications year-round. We are hoping the rolling application will help draw an influx of applicants and we look forward to continued and new community partnerships. We are incredibly proud to work with amazing Minnesota-based organizations and believe that this new structure will help us serve more of them and serve them more efficiently.
